VSRA Safety Orientation Disclaimer

The material contained in this document is meant to bring awareness to and orient the user in basic Shipyard Safety Orientation.  It is not intended to be used as a full shipyard safety program or training system nor is it tailored to each possible user or company.  It was developed in conjunction with a number of VSRA member companies, had input from the United States Department of Labor - Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the United States Department of the Navy - Norfolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA)  and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), and from many experienced and knowledgeable safety managers at Hampton Roads shipyards.  It is hoped that it may become the “standard” for safety orientation in the Hampton Roads ship repair industry.
 
However, it must be made clear that the use of this Safety Orientation program is provided for the purpose of increasing safety awareness and safe practices within the Hampton Roads ship repair industry.  There are no warranties related to this Safety Orientation program and its publication, and the Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA) does not make any promises, commitments, warranties, or guarantees or any other representations regarding the legality or adequacy of the proposed Safety Orientation.  The VSRA expressly denies any liability related to this orientation and resources.  VSRA EXPRESSLY DENIES THE EXISTENCE OF ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AS RELATED TO THE SALE, DISTRIBUTION OR PUBLICATION OF THIS SAFETY ORIENTATION PROGRAM. 
 
This orientation and its related resources is intended for Safety Orientation only and does not constitute full safety training nor is it a full shipyard safety system.  Each business entity is encouraged to seek its own advice on safety issues and to decide if the proposed Safety Orientation is adequate for orientation with respect to its facilities, operations, personnel, and work efforts.  Each business entity or individual that utilizes this Safety Orientation program is still responsible for its own full compliance with all applicable federal, state or local laws, regulations, and rules related to safe operations and employee safety measures.
